Booklet Maker - Free Online Browser Tool

Reformat pages for duplex booklet printing and center folding.

This produces the page order for saddle-stitch binding: pairs that, once stacked and stapled down the centre fold, read correctly from front to back. Blank filler pages are added where needed so the sheet count lands on a multiple of four.

How to Use the Booklet Maker Tool

Four steps, and the whole thing runs locally on your own device.

  1. Load the document

Drop in the PDF you intend to print and fold into a booklet.

  2. Confirm the imposition

The tool reorders pages into booklet sequence — outer sheet first, inner sheet last — and adds blank pages to complete the final group of four.

  3. Choose duplex flip style

Booklets are printed double-sided, flipping on the short edge, then stacked, folded and stapled on the fold line.

  4. Download the booklet file

Save the imposed PDF, print it double-sided short-edge, and assemble.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my booklet have blank pages in it?

Sheets fold in half, so every physical sheet carries four pages. If your page count is not a multiple of four the last group would be incomplete, so genuine blank fillers make it whole.

How do I print and assemble it?

Print double-sided flipping on the short edge, stack all sheets in the order produced, fold the stack in half, then staple along the fold.

Which edge is the fold?

The long edge of the landscape sheet. The fold runs down the centre of each sheet, which is why short-edge duplex is used.

What paper weight works best?

Up to about 120 gsm folds cleanly without cracking. Heavier stock needs scoring and a guillotine, which is beyond a desktop printer.

Is this the same as Saddle-Stitch Booklet Imposition?

The prepress version produces the same imposition with full printer marks, fold guides and bleed handling for a commercial print shop. This one is aimed at desktop duplex printing.
