Split PDF - Free Online Browser Tool

Extract specific pages or page ranges into a new PDF document.

Pulling a specific chapter, invoice or certificate page out of a long document is a surgical operation: everything you did not ask for has to stay behind. This tool takes a page list from you, copies exactly those pages into a fresh PDF, and leaves your source file untouched.

This split pdf utility runs completely inside your web browser. Your document is opened locally and processed on your own device using JavaScript and WebAssembly, so your file is never uploaded to any server. There is no signup, no watermark and no limit on how many documents you can handle.

  • 100% client-side - files never leave your device
  • Instant processing, no upload wait
  • Works on desktop, tablet and mobile
  • Free forever, no account required

How to Use the Split PDF Tool

Four steps, and the whole thing runs locally on your own device.

  1. Choose your PDF

Drop a single PDF into the upload area. The page count appears immediately so you can build an accurate selection.

  2. Select pages by number or range

Click page thumbnails to toggle them, or type ranges such as 4-8, 15. Use the presets for quick picks like first page or last page.

  3. Preview the selection count

The panel tells you how many pages are queued, so you can catch an over-broad range before generating anything.

  4. Split and download

Press Split PDF to build the new document from the selected pages only, then save it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I save the extracted pages as separate files?

Yes. Choose the separate-files output option and each selected page is returned individually, packed into a single ZIP archive for a one-click download.

Does splitting degrade the pages?

No. Selected pages are copied at their native resolution with their text intact, so the extracted document is indistinguishable from the corresponding part of the original.

How do I express an open-ended range?

Use a number on its own for a single page and two numbers joined by a hyphen for an inclusive range. Anything you leave out of the list is not copied.

Can I split a password-protected PDF?

Not directly — remove the password first with Unlock PDF, then run this tool on the decrypted file.

Is the original file modified?

No. Splitting reads the source and writes a new file; your original download stays exactly as it was.
