Image Tools

A file with the wrong extension, a photo too heavy to email, a screenshot five times wider than it needs to be. These tools fix all three on the canvas your browser already has - and the picture never leaves your device to get there.

  • Convert between JPG, PNG and WebP, one file at a time or as a whole batch
  • Shrink a file by lowering its quality, or by removing pixels nobody was going to see
  • Resize to a width or a percentage, keeping the shape of the original

Image Tools FAQ

Which format should I convert to?

JPEG for photographs and anything with lots of tones: it is the only one of the three that gets small without artefacts appearing in skies and skin. PNG for flat artwork, screenshots and anything with text or hard edges, because it is lossless. WebP when you want the smallest file and the place you are uploading to supports it.

Why did my transparent background turn black?

It should not, and guarding against exactly that is the point of these tools. A transparent PNG has nowhere to put its transparency once it becomes a JPEG, so it is flattened onto white first, which is what any editor shows you. To keep transparency, stay with PNG or use WebP.

Can I convert a whole folder at once?

Yes, add as many files as you like and they are handled together. Several files come back as a single ZIP, and a single file comes back as a single download, because wrapping one image in an archive is only an irritation.

Does converting reduce the quality?

Converting a photograph to a lower JPEG quality does, and that control is yours to set. Converting between formats at high quality is very nearly lossless; enlarging is the operation that can never recover detail, because it can only make pixels bigger.
