Fold Card Layout - Free Online Browser Tool

Impose a card design onto A4 so a single sheet folds into four greeting cards.

Four cards from one sheet of paper is the cheapest way to print a small run of anything that folds: invitations, place cards, thank-you notes. The sheet is divided into quadrants and your artwork is scaled into each one.

How to Use the Fold Card Layout Tool

Four steps, and the whole thing runs locally on your own device.

  1. Add your card PDF

One finished card per page, and only the first four pages are used.

  2. Choose the fold direction

Vertical first then horizontal, or the reverse. This matters because the fold order decides how the cards nest when stacked.

  3. Keep or drop the guides

Guides mark the fold lines as dashed so they are easy to follow and easy to ignore if you trim instead.

  4. Download and fold

Cut on the outer guides, then fold. A stack of folded sheets pressed together becomes a set.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many cards do I get per sheet?

Four. Each A4 sheet is divided into quadrants and carries four of your pages. Additional sheets are produced for anything beyond the first four.

Does the fold direction matter?

Yes, and getting it wrong means the stack nests incorrectly. Fold so the last card you placed ends up outermost, which the tool writes onto the guide line.

Should I cut before or after folding?

Cut first. Folding then cutting gives you slightly ragged edges where the fold runs through the trim.

Can I use this for postcards?

Yes, if your design is sized for a quarter sheet. A full A4 postcard would be scaled down to fit each quadrant, so it will come out smaller than intended.

What if my card is the wrong shape for a quadrant?

It is scaled to fit rather than stretched, and centred in the leftover space. Portrait designs in landscape quadrants will have visible white space at the sides.
